Galapagos ICE (Immerse - Connect - Evolve) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving education and healthcare for residents of the Galapagos, and to actively involving them in efforts to preserve the natural wonders of their Islands.

The Galapagos Archipelago became the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978, and was officially declared an Endangered Site in 2007.  Galapagos ICE believes that poor economic conditions for Galapagos residents and lack of basic social services such as education and healthcare function as silent accomplices in the ecological deterioration of the Islands. Furthermore, we believe that defending the local environment requires planning for sustainable development for the people of the Galapagos.

We strive to accomplish this through:

  1. Alleviating the economic and medical hardships of residents that drive them to fish illegally or otherwise violate environmental regulations to provide for themselves and their families.
  2. Offering all Galapagos residents a well-rounded education to help them secure stable livelihoods and enrich their knowledge of their homeland and the world.
  3. Actively encouraging and supporting local residents in their attempts to contribute to the ecological wellbeing of the Islands.

We pursue these goals through a variety of projects, but at the forefront of all our work is our dynamic force of volunteers.  Find out more about how you can donate or participate to help us work toward a brighter, sustainable future for the Galapagos Islands.
