Why Volunteer with Galapagos ICE?
Volunteering with Galapagos ICE offers you the opportunity to visit and learn about one of the most unique places on the planet.
We are grateful for our volunteers’ generosity, ingenuity and dedication and committed to making your experiences in the Galapagos as a volunteer as enjoyable and enriching as possible.
Low Volunteer Fees
We are a certified US 501(c)(3) international charity that is subject to stringent financial controls and dedicated to keep volunteer fees as low as possible.
Local Operations
Our primary office is located on site in the Galapagos–not on the Ecuadorian mainland, or anywhere else around the world. Emily Pozo, the President and Founder, lives year-round in the Islands, working with the volunteers and the local community. This means that she is intimately knowledgeable about the Islands, Galapagos National Park rules, local customs, and that she possesses quick access to all levels of Galapagueñian governance.
Localized Support for Volunteers
Emily provides the direct point of contact for all individuals working within Galapagos ICE’s volunteer program. All volunteers receive an on-site orientation that includes a briefing not only on the humanitarian situation in the Islands, but also an introduction to local flora and fauna, customs and culture.
Our office keeps regular office hours during which time volunteers may meet and brainstorm solutions to problems, or just check in and talk. We also hold weekly meetings in which all volunteers gather in the office to discuss the status of their projects. Volunteering with Galapagos ICE offers you the opportunity to visit and learn about one of the most unique places on the planet.
Use Your Professional Experience to Benefit Others
We value your professional experience and actively search for the right way to help you to apply your professional skills and experience to the best advantage of the local community.
